While Texas Hold’em gets all the TV time, there is not game better for action than Omaha or Omaha Hi/Low. It is quite similar to Hold’em, the difference is that the player gets 4 hole cards. The extra 2 cards ensure the availability of a best hand. The existence of Hi/Low versions in these games give them more appeal. This gets the betting pumped up as the hand that has hit is betting like crazy to try and get the chasers out of the action.

A game much better than Texas Hold’em where action is concerned is Omaha or Omaha Hi/Low. Omaha is played almost in the same manner as Texas Hold’em, the difference being that the player receives 4 hole cards instead of 2. The extra 2 cards ensure the availability of a best hand. The Hi/Low versions make these various poker games even more fun. This spurs the betting on as the hitting hand bets wildly to eliminate the chasers.

The strategy for these different types of poker games is significantly different though as you want to get involved in hands where you can scoop the pot. Scooping the pot does not mean covering only one side, it means winning both the Hi and Low hands. The variables and the 4 hole cards ensure that there is a lot of money to be won.

While there are many different types of poker games to choose from, an old favorite is 7 card stud. It too has both the Hi and Low versions. 2 cards are given face down and one face up. Each player receives one more card face up after the first round of betting. This continues till all the contenders in the game have 2 cards facing down and 4 cards facing up. The final betting round takes place at this juncture.

The difference between the other varied types of Poker games like Omaha and Holdem Poker Stud is that Holdem Poker Stud is not a chaser’s game. If your hand does not develop within the first round of betting and solidify on the second up card, you need to get out of the hand. You stand to lose everything. This is also a thinking man’s game as you must be able to keep track of all the cards that are dealt out. You might end up making a useless effort by searching for a card which has already been folded. Keep your eyes open and do not lose track of the cards on the board.

Razz is another different poker game just for people with bad luck. You stand to gain if you have a very bad hand. In a real game, A-2-3-4-6-7-8 would have you breaking things, in Razz you are scooping up the pot. The method of dealing and betting is the same as 7 stud, the difference is that you need the lowest ranked hand to win. As in regular stud, only 5 cards play.

Triple Draw is another type of poker games that is getting a lot of attention these days. It is full of action and great fun. You can make money with it if you practice discipline. People play this game at lower stakes for pure pleasure. This game is like another version of Razz using a 5 card draw model. You receive 5 cards and a round of betting follows. By discarding as many cards as you like, you should try to get the worst possible hand. 2-3-4-5-7 is great for standard Triple Draw. The first draw is followed by a round of betting and a discard round. The third and last draw is followed by one more betting round and then the showdown takes place. Do not forget, no pairs, flushes or straights are required. You only need trash for victory.
